Shop With Joy
Shop With Joy was an experimental challenge to create a sustainable product and establish a digital marketing plan.

Old sweaters and yarn all end up in op-shops and landfill, taking decades to break down. The objective was to find a way to utilise existing materials and extend their life cycle, resulting in possible profit and a business opportunity.
-
Handmade knitted headphone covers made from recycled yarn in multiple styles to suit different aesthetics. The process is sustainable and the product is profitable.

Using old knitted sweaters and yarn from my wardrobe, I created three designs to suit most headphone sizes. From there, I created a digital media presence, and digital marketing plan. Much of my images were edited using Adobe Photoshop and Procreate.
Process
It took me about a week of experimenting before I got a size I was happy with and a method of making it stay on the headphones. From there I was finally able to get to the creative side of making them different and personalised.
Whilst creating these products, I discovered that the process takes much longer than I initially thought. The base themselves take about 4-5 hours each and then there’s the additional work for sewing the shape together and adding statements.
I took images of the model, wearing the products, at a local park. With slight direction, she captured the emotions I was aiming for and I could move on to editing.
For the digital marketing, the goal was “fun and whimsical”. Using Procreate, the image was recoloured and graphics were added. It was a similar process for the modelling images.
